RV - Recreation Vehicles and The General Types and Classes

RV recreation vehicles are truly becoming very popular and you may be considering purchasing one to travel freely to lakes or beaches on the weekends. Perhaps you are considering trying out the nomadic lifestyle of packing up all your things in an RV and hitting the open road for months. Whatever your goal, choosing the right type of RV available can be a difficult thing if you don’t know what you are looking for.

The very first piece of knowledge people should know concerning RV recreation vehicles is how they are put into different classes. There are three general types of RVs: A, B, and C and each suits a different sort of use, and each type has a different cost.

Class A, RV recreation vehicles are the royalty of the RV world and they are the larger type, that offer the most storage space and luxury. They are seen more as the boxy RV’s which have a cab that extends as part of the living quarters. These are the upper end of RVs, and available models can be quite comfortable. The only real problems with the top of the line larger class A’s is their maneuverability in traffic, plus some camp gounds are not able to meet the infrastucture needs, or road requirements of class A’s.

The Class B RV variety are RV’s which were once vans that have been transformed. They are the smallest class of RVs, and also in general the most affordable. While they offer much less space than the other models, they are easier to handle on the road compared to a Class A RV. Because of their relative ease of use and affordability, Class B RVs can be very popular.

Class C, RV recreation vehicles are the middle ground between Class A and Class B. They are put together from van chassis or modified trucks and also have the typical sleeper sticking out over the cab. If you want the room of a Class B yet you are not comfortable behind the wheel of a class A, you may find Class C RV’s to be best. They are in the middle of the pros and cons of the two classes, and the typical price can range in between the lower end of Market Class A’s and the upper part of market class B’s.

You will find expert advice from many of the RV clubs such as the Good Sam Club.  Another bonus about belonging to a club is once you start your RV trips, you will be able to access RV park campground recommendations. Once you do decide to purchase an RV, jot down a quick list of the important things you want in order of their priority. Clubs are a plethora of valuable information, on not only the types of RV’s but also on giving tips, including RV checklists. Once you’ve made a checklist, ask yourself some questions. Are you more concerned with having extra room to move over easy driving ability? Do you want better fuel economy and carefree driving and what is your price range? Once you are comfotable with what you are really looking for you will feel qualified to choose and purchase your own RV.
